Android Vs iPhone, Let The App Wars Commence!

Bookmark and Share

The Android Market used to badly lag behind the iPhone App Store but no so much any more. Android is rapidly gaining ground and many believe it will over take its rival before long. Google are reporting record numbers of Android activations and it's only growing. Needless to say, the demand for apps is quickly following on.

Not only for the more geeky among us Android is becoming known for its flexibility and offers a world of variety from devices to carriers. It is tightly interweaved with many Google products meaning you really can take your virtual space with you, almost wherever you go.

A major difference between Android and the iPhone OS is that the former is open source meaning that any functionality and appearances can be changed by Apps. The iPhone OS does not allow developers to modify any part of the OS which makes it quite limited in comparison. If you're big into customization then Android is for you.

As you can probably tell by now I'm a big Android fan and I wouldn't go back to my iPhone if you paid me! In my opinion Android is the future, in large part because it is completely open source. This in itself makes it much more future proof and appealing to a wide range of people.

One of the best features of Android is it's total integration with Gmail and Google Calendar. It is built in to the Android OS and this in itself is reason enough to choose Android over the iPhone. If you don't mind Google taking over the world then embrace the Android!

To finish up with this little look at Android I just wanted to quickly mention all the health related apps on Android. For one reason and another I need to monitor my heart rate and would you believe it there is even an Android app for that too! Astounding stuff.
