When choosing a smart phone you're forced to pick between three major competitors, two of which are dominating the current market share. So what is the best option to choose from, an Android or an iPhone? Well the answer is that they're both extremely nice operating systems, it comes down to your specific needs.
If you're not at all tech savvy and susceptible to malware and viruses on a PC, maybe you should use an iPhone. Android's market does not screen the apps you can download in any way. In fact, a common complaint amongst Android users is that there is malware in some of the applications. True, there is an abundance of antivirus software out there, but do you want to have to worry about it?
If you want a phone that's under your control, an Android is definitely for you. Compared to the iPhone, you can play media whatever file types you want. You're not locked into a specific file type (mp4) like with Apple products. You are also free to download whatever application for your phone that you want. With the iPhone you're limited to apps that passed to rigorous filtering process.
If you're new to smart phones or tablets, ease of use is an important consideration in choosing what's right for you. I have a lot of experience with both Android based phones and iPhones. In my experience I think iOS is slightly easier to use. It's GUI is self explanatory and easy to navigate. When you open an application the there are buttons, menu buttons, and button to close back. With an Android based phone, navigating between apps is slightly more confusing.
If applications are your concern, they shouldn't be. For years Android definitely Apple trailed in the apps department. iPhones had a distinct advantage when it came to number of applications. However, with a growing amount of users and therefore developers, popular applications and games are readily available for almost anything you want.
If this is your second smart phone and you're experienced I would have to conclude an Android is better for you. It gives you more control over your operating system, and is more customizable. If you don't know what you re doing and just getting your toes wet in the smart phone arena, an iPhone is probably the better choice.
